Given that I recently tried out some of the current games I have to agree.  :o

Even though some of the aspects they have introduced are not bad at all. But maybe in shooters it is not as obvious when you compare modern day RTS to older games - or even remakes which introduce not only modern graphics but also an updated GUI.

It's hard to be a parent. My son thinks he can make a living on gaming because he is ranked yadayada in CSGO or whatewer and have a YT channel with many likes, but I own him 1on1 in ANY game (except FIFA). Should I encourage him or tell him the truth? Don't know, in the mean time I just tell him he is the greatest and let him live in his little bubble. =)
