How do you - design and print?

(1/1)

Piglet:
Hopefully this is a quick question.

I want to print words & lines on a piece of paper at very precise positions from a laser printer. What's the way to do that?

In this particular case I want to arrange words to within a grid - each grid box being 9.5mm square.

I have GIMP and MS Word...but no idea how to get a precice layout and print.

Kops?

kops:
Sorry mate I'm all online and run away from print work.

[MiA]Dave:
I'd say take a look at the forms process in Word to print labels for instance. It used to be a form for the page layout and a separate data file then mail-merge.

zeus:
I BELIEVE WORD HAS MM RULERS ON TOP AND LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN CORRESPONDING TO CHOSEN PAGE SIZE (A4, A3, ... ). IT IS NOT PIXEL PERFECT, BUT HOPEFULLY ENOUGH

hagis:
probably easiest to do trial and error,. use whatever package,. then scale it up and down after each print till it's as close as you need(!)

problem is most printers themselves faff with what you give them to deal with paper borders etc
