Has anyone seen my aim? I seem to have lost it.

Nah! I missed so much.

I've worked out the problem. At the time I'm playing other people are using the bandwidth for things like downloading games and watching catch-up TV.

I don't have a massively broad connection, so the other things happening throw off a steady timing.

I probably should get a faster router with decent QOS, ready for the next few years

I just use a cheap £50 TP link one. I've used there gear for BT a lot, and my personal preference for jobs :)
There are a couple on sale on amazon at the moment AC1900 - not sure that is ADSL though. I made that mistake on my last job, router only had a fibre rj45 port  ::)

In France we get the box from the provider. Blazing fast internet for around 50 bucks and TV is included. Cannot ask better. 1 gbps line. How are the rates in UK / Ireland and is there any usage limits? Here everything unlimited and no speed throttle.

I'm at the end of my contract with Virgin Media (Fibre 250Mbps down/25Mbps up), next month it increases to £57 pm.
Plusnet are currently offering 500Mbps down/75Mbps up for £32 pm for new customers, so I'll likely go with them.

There are no download restrictions in place.  Virgin Media have/had a fair usage policy which throttled the bandwidth for a few hours, but you had to really hammer the downloads/torrents to fall foul of this.

I haven't lost my aim.  I never really had one to begin with :)

Not bad but is the line optic fiber or ADSL tech [copper wires bring net]? Most people will find the specs you mentioned more than adequate. But netflix 4k does puts a lot of demand :)
