Tutorial: Extracting Textures (or pictures or materials) from KF editor

(1/3) > >>

Snipe34:
A mapper has a problem, he used a custom texture file and it's so huge it won't all go on the server.  He only used a few textures from that file.

What he has to do is extract the textures he used (save them to file) then re-import them to KF editor, and then, re-apply them.

Here's how:

1/ Find the texture (notice that the "InUse" tab is clicked [Full/InUse/MRU]) InUse shows all textures 'in use' in that map.  Selected tex is gwbookcase  BSP:12 (means it's applied to 12 BSP surfaces)

2/ Right click on the texture and choose 'export to file'

3/ hurrying along, re-import the same file

4/ click on file, import

5/ The tex will now be placed in the map's mylevel.  After all the tex in the map from the huge custom tex file have gone through this process, then that tex file won't be needed anymore.

6/ the first tex in the map's 'mylevel' area.

Finally, after exiting KF edit, ALWAYS choose NO
