Yes it is (comming with the newest Linux Kernel 3.2). They have previewed their OS a long while ago and you can even download it (haven't tested it yet, but I think it will never interest me):

They wanted to make a faster booting OS which can also get installed in the device's firmware.
The OS is designed for internet surfing only, but you can also install some plugins/apps - actually it's just a webbrowser.

IMHO it's best as it is:
Linux keeps being the safest OS because Windows stays more reasonable to attack.
Windows is a balanced OS for noobs and Pros
Mac OSX still sucks with zero functions :P
