Constant CTDs

Hey guys,

Feels great to be in the clan, but I keep on getting CTDs when trying to enter the server. Raj, I was playing fine for about 38 minutes, and thne you pooped in and said hi. I got booted off the second after you said it's the first time you've seen me online. It's cause of the CTDs.

Here's the error code: General protection fault!

Beats me what all this means.

It will take me a while to troubleshoot the problem. I think it could be my GPU driver, but I doubt it. But it was good to see you on! Will try to get back in.

Ok, uninstalled the game, and GPU drivers, and reinstalled everything with newest drivers. I still get instant CTD upon entering the game. Not sure if I still have it in me like I did previous years to troubleshoot the problem for half a week if need be.

If I have to, I'll play using the demo. Man, this kinda sucks.

Ok, the demo works just fine and I had a great game just now. But, I want to be able to use all the cool features of the full client, which I do have now. I played on some different maps with Solar and it was just simply awesome. I've played the same two maps for 5 years straight on the demo, and now I am back to this, Damn.

Anyway, at least I can play with my clan while I troubleshoot this MOST annoying of problems. So many CTDs.

Post your specs (OS, hardware).
If UT2004 demo works, you could try using the ini files of it with your fullversion client.

Is your fullversion legit?

What Raj says sounds to be the best option, but if you still have issues you could try to install the game under Linux (Ubuntu recommended).
It doesn't realize the full potential like the Windows version, but that's a good way to get it running more stable.

For example in past I had a cheap graphics card with a broken VRAM bank: blackscreen for a few seconds under Windows and crashing system after a while. Then I installed the game under Ubuntu and it worked flawlessly.
