Your Favourite Old-School / Retro Games / Game Series?

[MiA]crazzy:
While writing an RE to 'Music you listening right now' i got an Idea.
[Hey, why not asking the all the Members what their Fav Old Games /Series are / were?]

So I do this.

What are Your Favourite Old School Games / Retro Games / Game Series (from then 'til now)

Well my favourite Game series is and was:

The Legend of Zelda.

I know not all games of this Series are good but most of them.

I played all of them and I got to say: Some of them are really really f**ked up.
I mean:
TLOZ II Link's Awakening... WTF was that? It was Hard as hell and had kinda the Idea of a RPG in Zelda [WTF?]
Not that the game is bad, no it's good but hell this game is totally braking the fourth wall.
And then the 2 for the NDS...
This ain't Zelda... This is just strange... No Real (Half-)open world, No real Puzzle/Riddle/conundrum/enigma (google translator), and a fraking Zelda ghost, that is following you? For real?
But the others are fine.
My favourite game of the Series is:
TLOZ: A Link to the Past (for Snes not the Remake for GBA)
This is just awesome. This is like the one that i took the most time to play through, rough estimated like 20 game hour's (100% Run) w/o Deaths. I mean 11 Temples is really much for a Zelda Game in compare to some others. *coughlikespirittracksforndsonlyfiveorsixtemplescough*,[ damn it seems like i need some medicine xD]
So if I had the choice to choose between Crysis 3 and a (good) Remake of TLOZ:ALTTP in TP-Style.. I'd definately choose Zelda...

My Second Fav is the
Prince of Persia Series

But I also like Tetris a lot.

Edit: Oh and Congrats Super Nintendo Entertainment System aka SNES... it turned 20 on 1 of September 2012

Some DOS games I used to play a lot:
- Dangerous Dave series
pretty hardcore

- Commander Keen series

- Bio Menace series

- Jazz Jackrabbit series
not bad Epic Games

- Might & Magic series
Be warned, those take forever to play through.

Veica:
Honest to god, the most old-school/retro game I ever played was MARIO PAINT.

Oh, and there was this SNES game I played as well, I remember very little of it except that there was a conttollable swordsman, and in the part I played I had to run up a spiral staircase onto something of a rooftop. It was very Castlevania-esque, and the only reason I'd ever play it today was to figure out what the flying f*** I was doing.

Wait, wait, wait, no, oldest retro game: Gauntlet.
And I might as well throw Mechwarrior 3 and Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall out there.
