iCTF classic
« on: October 05, 2020, 11:52 »
Hello Piglet, et al.
Could it be possible to have the normal iCTF on the server without the pickups? There are some people that would like to play iCTF occasionally but at least I find the pickups a bit off putting. And to my understanding it is the feeling with some other people as well. They make the experience a bit more casual and less competetive. So just the basic iCTF... we could have the giggles iCTF on the side of course...

Best regards
-Nyrde

Ok - try here: ut2004://80.4.151.145:4777

It's voteable, with hitsounds and brightskins. Otherwise entirely standard.

Hello! Thank you Piglet. And this was not meant to be critisism or anything. That iCTF with pickups would probably be super fun if you more players. It has a real potential for epic chaos :D . But usually iCTF comes up when the Freon 1 server is full and we are waiting for slots and someone suggests iCTF on the other server. Usually we would only have a few players attending it.

I tested it... seems to work fine. Could there be a time limit instead of flag count? Now the winner is with 3 flags and its quite fast. Maybe 20 minutes would be good.

Given you say it is votable:

It is quite likely that I have missed it, but is there any overview/thread that lists all available game modes of each server?

Freon #1 for example has full and regular health freon, afair Freon #3 has the "beta version" of freon available that we tested some weeks ago.

I am currently interessted in playing some rounds of iTDM, I'm not too much into capture the flag. If there is no such list I can create it, maybe it helps others as well.

Ok. I'll test at some point... Yes I noticed... I'm old instagibber and it's very challenging... for me they are just perfect and I have to really push myself in order to win, and it actually feels like you have achived something... but maybe to someone not used to instagib it can be a bit off putting. Maybe they could be lowered a notch. I think usually there is no addre in iCTF...  Could there be an option for the force models as we have on other game modes?

Yes we tried it with Proz today and the difficulty of the bots is perfect IMO
Sorry about asking stuff and this is not anyway necassary if it is a lot of work... but is there a possibility to use the advanced netcode on instagib? I don't know what the down side of having that could be...

Thank you for all your efforts Piglet... You are doing amazig work.

Try now - it's using Wormbo's UnlaggedInstaGib serveractor.

If that doesn't feel right may have to try something else

You should be able to foce models from your client configuration:

User.ini:
[UnrealGame.UnrealPawn]
PlacedCharacterName=Gorge

[XGame.xPawn]
PlacedCharacterName=Gorge
PlacedFemaleCharacterName=Rylisa

UT2004.ini:
[UnrealGame.DeathMatch]
bForceDefaultCharacter=True
bColoredDMSkins=True

That doesn't always work. I have no idea why.
