Yeah, the only reason I've been using the font that's there is because it supports Japanese kana.

 :drunk: My Desktop,

Well, since Necro has been showing his wallpaper off, I thought I might as well too. To infinity and beyond! My desktop as seen below:

??? What happened to all your icons?

@N3Cr0: Nice video wallpaper you have there. Anyone have any thoughts about getting a Dreamscene wallpaper to work under bbLean?

Anyone have any thoughts about getting a Dreamscene wallpaper to work under bbLean?

I haven't tried it with bblean, but it should be no problem: In bblean you can make themes with wallpaper and let bblean manage it, but you can also disable this feature and set wallpapers the common way.
The only important thing is finding the right download link for your OS.
Win7 32bit: http://www.chip.de/downloads/DreamScene-fuer-Windows-7-32-Bit_40791573.html
win7 64bit: http://www.chip.de/downloads/DreamScene-fuer-Windows-7-64-Bit_40791067.html
(64bit version:1. Copy the .dll into .../system32/;2. the .mui to .../system32/en-US/ [no matter which country you are from]; 3. Apply the registry patch.)
Before you can use this tool, you have to restart after installing.

But keep in mind: this tool is only useful in cold winter: my GPU switches from idling 2D mode to low 3D mode with 35%+ load. That increases the GPU-clock 8 times and rises the temperature from 32°C to 40°C
It also stops the animation if you run a window maximized - you can resume/pause it in the context menu on the wallpaper (Desktop), but this will not work in bblean. So if you switch to another workspace, it will probably not move.

N3Cr0 didn't like my blackbox colors, so here's a bit diff variant:

Also found a cool toggleable console: http://code.google.com/p/conemu-maximus5/
It's possible to use it like UT2004 console on top of your screen lol

:)

Having second thoughts about this app actually. Looks cool and all, but takes over 60 MBs of RAM...

Here's a tutorial to a Quake style console using Console2 by the way:

Seems to work somewhat better for me, only using 30~40 mb. Still, after using it for a bit, I'm not really liking its features :\

One thing I missed to show you: my second attempt with Bodhi Linux (a minimal Ubuntu derivate).

  • Objective: setting up a HTPC on low-end hardware (first generation Intel Atom 330)
  • After no player could really play FullHD movies on this device (no older Linux derivates or Windows XP with best codecs) I decided to use a newer lighweight system and the newest version of the good olde Xbox Media Canter
  • Of course, I can comfortably control the whole system with my IR remote control

I noticed these newer versions of the software I'm using come with many improvements:
Bodhi Linux became a little bit more stable and the Enlightenment 17 Desktop has an automatic window tiling feature now. It also comes with PCManFM (the best filemanager - lightweight, but feature rich) again.
And the newest XBMC makes full use of the multi threading technology, which allows this computer to play FullHD videos.
Also they fixed the youtube plugin so I can finally watch youtube videos in XBMC again (there are also many other video portals available).

I don't think HTPCs need to be high end at all.
I remember watching 1080p movies on my old Dell D620 laptop, which could barely run UT2004 :)

Anyway, cool setup.

Well, I do hard to understand that you need at least a 2GHz CPU to run fullHD movies without frame loss.
This is the very maximum of performance my CPU can run, but the framerate is a bit low. To remember: it's a dual core processor with 1.6 GHz.
On the other hand there were modded old XBoxes with 1.4 (or at least 1.0) GHz instead of the 738 MHz (all Intel Pentium III mobile), which could handle these movies.
