 - will it take a more up to date gfx card or would i need to get an older card?

Looking at the specs it's a PCI express 2.0
Graphics cards in the PCI-E range are backwards compatible with boards, just won't be as quick as a PCI-E 3 board if you have a PCI-E 3.0 gfx card etc.

There's a pretty big cooler that goes with it too, and back plate and  (I think) various plug in optional parts for the mobo - sound module and maybe WiFi

@Rage:

Back from holiday. Here's what there is....

I think this is the right PDF for the mobo

The cooler is a big one. If you want it you're welcome to it - but it won't fit in the box and weighs a little over 900 grams. The box with everything else in it weighs 1717 grams

Do you need any sata cables or thermal compound? I'm sure I have some knocking around.

I think those are the Post office options that make sense:

Postage for the mobo without the cooler is Signed For® 2nd Class, 3 days delivery aim, up to £50 for loss or damage:2kg    £4.20

Postage for the cooler 1st Class, 1 day delivery aim    Up to £20 for loss or damage    1kg    £3.85

Also I would nt take it for free doesnt seem right.

If you want it you're welcome to it for anything more than the postage cost. Just let me know and I'll PM you account details. Anything over the postage will go into the "keep the server running" kitty.

Yay! Good news.  My monitor had headphone out so I used HDMI sound for ages on my last pc.

I'm just trying a £2.50 no-brand USB sound card thing from ebay I got for something else. It works perfectly!

Yeah I had sound through hdmi to monitor but was very quiet - the board has no onboard sound and you have to use the supreme fx to gat any decent sound or buy another soundcard - but it was easier just to dl win 7 and install that =)

so the Q6600 is very stable with a radeon HD8470 gpu im getting 200fps and its very stable - the GTX1060 i have was giving 200-250 with an I7 3770k so for some reason it was bottlenecking slightly  then i bent the mobo cpu pins - i then used an athlon A8 6600k but that coupled with the GTX1060 that massively bottlenecked fps drops 60 to 140.

playing using the q6600 UT feels very smooth all i notice now is a slightly higher chance of HS for some reason and very slight delay (ms) due to the shitty 60hrtz 8ms monitor - where i have fired but enemies shot registers first - can be annoying.  when I can I will get a better monitor just not in a position to buy atm with house cost and wife being ill.
