I know that feeling, also had to separate from a couple of (company) cars that really were a good fun to drive.

7 years of a laptop about to come to an end.

Corsair Crystal 570X Glass case
Corsair RM1000X 1000W
Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming
Ryzen 9 3900 3.8Ghz Turbo 4.6Ghz 12 Core 24 Thread w/ Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut
Corsair Hydro H100i RGB Platinum Liquid
64GB Corsair Vengeance PRO RGB 3600Mhz
GeForce RTX 3080 10GB
500GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 NVME SSD
1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 NVME SSD
4TB Barracuda 5900
Asus Strix Soar Gaming Soundcard
AX3000 Wifi 6 2402 Mbps & BT5
Samsung Odyssey G9 49"
VA88M CMYK ISO Keyboard

Just waiting for HMRC to flip us so I can claim the VAT! Like waiting for a snail to make its way across London.

Each part costs more than my whole PC

My only suggestion is to swap the HDD for the cheapest 2-4TB SSD and drop the 500GB one

Lol, pretty much the same here. Nice Kops  8)
The M2 drives vary quite a bit, I forgot to compare them before I bought mine and ended up with one of the slowest, but still way quicker than non ssd/m2 drives.

Great. If possible, post what you are thinking of ordering here so we can give input. There are enough people who know about hardware here to help pick the right parts.

Everything I see says that it's a bad time to be buying a graphis card. AMD are kicking ass at the moment - and their shared memory concept for the new cards and new processors is looking likely to be a big deal. Demand for new PC kit is high due to people working from home. Even old graphics cards are settling for much higher prices now than they were 6 months ago.

You can't even get bargains from China at the moment. The second hand RX 580 8GB I bought for under £84 last year is now selling for a minimum of £168.12 on Aliexpress.

That is a very interessting aspect. I happen to have a surplus graphic card on hand (Nvidia something 970 something) because I inherited a Nvidia something 1070 something and I might swap those out.

My only issue is that, in CONTRAST (piggy  ;)) to kops I have not done any research about computer parts for nearly a decade now. So I might just lurk around and try to learn from this thread.

One of these? https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-970.c2620

My old card was a GTX 960 and it's now in my boy's machine. He really could do with something a little faster. What do you want for it? :P

I had a GTX 970 and I enjoyed it while I had it. I only had it for a year and half before it started to die. Painful artifacting and frequest DirectX errors/crashes.

I replaced it with a 6GB GTX 1060 for a few months and then went up to the 1080, so now I've got the 1060 in a box rotting away in case this card dies too...

I'm a little iffy on recommending the GTX 970, depending on how hard you plan to push it. The card has a VRAM configuration of 3.5GB + 0.5GB; accessing that last 0.5GB partition, depending on the quality of the chips used, can be anywhere from a 1-3% performance hit or more.
Previously known as: xS0NARx, Njordr, Latte, or whatever the "name of the week" was.

I've not yet made up my mind about it, but if you are intressted I'm sure we can figure something out. If I can give it to someone who I know puts it to good use I'd like that, it's a bit of a special topic.

I see what you mean but I never ever pushed this card and the whole machine to its limits because I never played very demanding games nor did any foto/video editing. So I have no idea if these problems would also appear here. Basically I am really pleased with it because it is the most silent GPU I've ever had and never caused any issue.

I think I'll open a separate thread and let you guys know what kind of "make one out of two PCs" I'm having in mind - maybe you have a better idea.

Just bit the bullet, for the missus' rig. Just got a prime B-450 plus and ordered her a 2600x, only a step up from my 350 plus and 1600, which is a couple of years old now. Hopefully I can get her into Red dead 2, as her current rig can't run it without big fps drops :(
