Spare PC parts
« on: April 06, 2021, 23:04 »
Hi all, I have some spare parts, that are just collecting dust. Dunno if anyone can use them or needs them. I was gonna build my friend a PC out of them but he is strapped for cash; I can't be bothered to play the bank of Stealer role ergo, thought I'd list them on here:
Ati 270x GPU (think it's AGP, can double check if interested) (fan has stopped working, think it's replaceable, may require soldering - I'm really not sure, I just replaced and upgraded it)

M54A97 mobo with FX6350 and 8 gig kit (2x4 gig) of DDR3 OCZ ram With Arctic freezer pro 7 cpu heatsink.
I have a 8 gig (2x4) kit of Gskillz ripjaws ddr3 as well laying around somewhere)

If anyone can use them, I'm just happy to get rid of them, just pay the postage and slip me a beer token or two.

I have no idea about hardware, so I cannot really judge whether the walk to the museum makes sense ;D, but could you not use it for some kind of media center PC?

Ah that's kinda my forte, aye not sure where the nearest IT museum is to me! Aye, that might be a thought :) We've already got 2 desktops and a laptop.
Was just kinda hoping someone on here could make use of the parts, nae bother.
Think there is a PC shop in town, might see if they want it + see if they know their stuff ;)

Thanks for the offer, but I'm constantly clearing out my bits'n'bob's bin.  At one point I had enough cables and IDE ribbons to circle the globe :).

I generally punt my old tech on Gumtree or Freecycle.  There's usually someone happy to take stuff off your hands.

Hehe, I know the feeling, I've got a few bags full of cables I've collected since the 90s  :)) I've still got a few IDE cables, even a null modem cable (think it was serial to serial, can't quite recall without googling or delving through the bags) somewhere! Luckily the missus hasn't made me throw them out: my usual reply is it's good to have spares  8)

Ah nice, I'm a bit outdated, not used those sites before, I only just started using amazon in the past few years  :-[

Thanks for the suggestions Grim  ;)

These might be useful in the post-apocalyptic world. You'll need all the cables and adapters you can find!

 :)) :)) :)) :))
Don't say that Holy, I'll need another house to store all the bits I may find necessary - I've played fallout: I'm gonna be hoarding bottle caps and circular saw blades now  8) :))

I can justify this with the missus now: we need a new shed - Holy said this, I must follow the messiah!  ::)  8)

really? you would give it away?  I have a spare system to put it in - will it take a more up to date gfx card or would i need to get an older card?

Also I would nt take it for free doesnt seem right.
