Hi!
I bought a new keyboard and was wondering if you guys have had any experience with this hardware yet -> Redragon K585 DITI One-Handed RGB - brown switch
Since I've been using the cursor keys for a long time, the transition period was very difficult...
But it's interesting that the macro assignment works quite well and keys that are not assigned in UT can be permanently assigned to macros using the software...  e.g. “forward 50ms/10ms forward 50ms/10ms jump 50ms/10ms jump 50ms/0ms”   which makes you forget all your cramps at once and possibly prevents carpal tunnel syndrome...
However, the problem at the moment is that the forward button prevents the macro from triggering immediately after it is released... Does anyone have any ideas on how to shorten the time between releasing the forward button and activating the macro?
Perhaps some members will find this information useful and will be able to spend their free time gaming in the future in a more ergonomic way :)

Well, that is remarkable I ordered it yesterday with blue switches.
It was a bit impulse cause my partner threw away the 2 donor keyboards of my MS internet KB from 2000.  :(

Also a cursor user using my pink to jump(CTRL) and thumb to switch weapons (NumPad0=pipedSwitchWeapon 4|pipedSwitchWeapon 5)

Let us see what it will deliver. O:-)

Very interesting how you've assigned the keys!

But the blue buttons are pretty loud, aren't they?
I wonder if your partner can sleep peacefully with that clicky noise :D

I'm still not very comfortable with the setup AWSD... or ESDF... Space Jump... R crawl... P... macro combo... forward... mouse wheel “weapon change”... mouse 4 -- use... mouse 5 shield... I still get confused with the assignments... and the different location of the buttons ...
sometimes i get knots in my fingers  :D
it will take some time and more testing to find a fitting setup  8)

It is in delivering but it will certainly be interesting to see how the setup goes.

I never really played any games but unreal (in 2011 Onslaught for 1.5 years and now CTF for 2-3 year)
So AWSD will be a challenge. ::) Cursor curse  :))

I ordered it with "gaming" in mind but did not know that the blue switches would be loud (just reading in).

For starters I think erfvc will be switching weapons with pipedSwitchWeapon. one button 2 weapons switch (got that defined in user.ini)
Thumb: jump that will be a change instead of using pink (never ever used my thumb   ??? ) I just notice I use my index for switching weapons...
Shift or capslck will be crouch like I use now with pink

Macro's no clue atm  :-X

Partner: she sleeps like a log  :)) and i got a separate office although it is next to the bedroom  :-\

My goto with numpad now
NumPad0=pipedSwitchWeapon 4|pipedSwitchWeapon 5
NumPad1=pipedSwitchWeapon 1|pipedSwitchWeapon 7
NumPad4=pipedSwitchWeapon 0|pipedSwitchWeapon 8

By now, I have more or less memorized and internalized the keyboard layout.
I have rotated the Redragon keyboard about 20° to the right so that I always hit the right keys without having to look after them...
From this perspective, I can now almost always keep my fingers on the keyboard and have been able to reduce the error rate a bit...
I also had to change vom WSAD to EDSF to keep the thumb/Space Button in a more convenient position … and a shorter distance to the other buttons ..

Read Dragon 585 DTI
  • E - Forward
  • D - Backward
  • S - Left
  • F - Right
  • T - Shock Rifle
  • Z - Shield Gun
  • Space - Jump

G403 Hero
  • Default Settings
  • Mouse 4 - Enter Vehicle
  • Mouse 5 - Crouch / Manta Jump on / Raptor
  • Mouse Center Button - DPI Change

The issue with macros is somewhat problematic because you short remain standing after triggering them.
F/F/J/J -> G
B/B/J/J -> P
Perhaps some of you have had similar „keyboard & mouse“ experiences and can share a few of them.  ;D

After an extended testing phase and a few problems, things are now going a little better..
Despite the new “Reddragon” keyboard, I had some problems with quickly and intuitively switching between primary weapons, so I got myself a Logitech G502 Hero mouse.
This mouse has a G-Shift button that makes it very easy to assign double functions to the buttons.
The main priority was to eliminate the persistent problems with jumping on the Manta and fixing/ducking, to speed up the use of vehicles and weapons & to transfer the weapon selection from the keyboard to the mouse via G-Shift double assignment.
Of course, the DPI settings 200/250/300/350/450 can also be switched on variably, but they are not needed that often.
Perhaps someone else has had similar experiences that they would like to share with the others. ;D

Imho. In my opinion any form of combo / macro's beside in-game binds should be not allowed. (dodge / Snap Tap)
This gives you advantage while 95% of others players can't use it the same way meaning spoiling it for others.

So, if you take into account the constant movement on large maps and the associated cramps in your fingers from pressing F/F or F/F/L/L, then you should also consider why such laborious key combinations are necessary here.
You could also ask yourself why some players can be twice or three times as fast with Adrenaline and why this is not achievable when chasing across an entire map ;)

However, I also don't believe that such combos will prevent players from acting more creatively on familiar maps.
You could see it as a way of helping weaker players keep up on some maps and thus better support the team.
But that would take us into a fundamental discussion...

For example, I'm very bad at “escaping,” and this combo doesn't help much in that situation.
Everyone has to bring their own basic skills to the table anyway...
