Can\'t join on my own dedicated server, PLZ HELP!
« on: January 02, 2010, 01:57 »
Question on Killing Floor 2.5/2.51 (an Unreal Tournament 2004 mod) - how do you make a dedicated server from your own computer to work online where anyone can join your KF game? Or for that matter - how do you make UT2K4 work online where anyone can join your game? When i start my own dedicated server, no one can join my Game and me too, in "Ping" stay "n/a". Please help  <!-- s:( -->:(<!-- s:( --> (sorry for my English, i\'m Russian)

Are you behind router? If you are then you will need to configure the router.
Here are the ports you need to add to port forwarding:
7777-7788, 27900, 42292 (udp and tcp).
How to forward ports for ut2004:
http://portforward.com/english/applicat ... 4index.htm

If you\'re not using a router then firewall software might be causing that too, so you can try shutting it off.

So have you forwarded them or have you failed?

In case your router is a fritz!box type following in your webbrowser's URL:
fritz.box

If you have another router it might be 192.168.0.1

Search for the port forwarding menu (hard to explain it in short, but you should find it) and do as Raj said.
That should take about 2-3 minutes ;)

IMO there is no program necessary for this, also I've never heard from a tool like this (and if it exists it will be a lack of security).

EDIT:
Just forward the ports 7777-7778 from the UDP protocol - that's what I have done and it works.

I actually know a fairly easy way to join a dedicated server you are hosting. Just click the LAN tab and it should be displayed there. You should be able to join the server as a LAN client.
