Project Sony
« on: June 29, 2011, 16:41 »
MY PS3 F***ed up; the disk drive stopped working... so I removed the hard-drive and installed Windows 7 on it. Then, yesterday I got bored so I decided to tear the console apart after about 7 months of dust. This is the result.

My Techie setup. Mind the clutter.

The innards at a meek glance.

The Blu-Ray drive. This is what broke on me :(

The format warning. It was extremely hard for me to confirm.

(kinda hard to read)

Shit`s goin`down. Goodbye, Win7! ;_;

(kinda hard to read)

Have you tried to clean the lens of the BD?
Btw, is this the fat or the slim PS3 - I don't have one so I can't see the difference on your photos.

You swap Windows 7 for Black Ops?
That's like swapping a multifunctional mobile phone for an evil cat, which drains your money away slowly

Pf, I don't play CoD anymore because of Activision.
CoD4 was such a great game, but theiy obviously hadn't enough money to continue... that's why they cut things out of the final product and sell them as an overpriced DLC.
That's strange... CoD gets selled so good, but they still need all the money while other publishers give mappacks away for free...
Poor Activision...

I love sarcasm.

Yeah, the Zombie Mode is nice. But after they wanted 15€ for the DLC, I stopped playing it :S

omfg that sucks
well I got the game at the same day when they started to sell it - and we were sad we couldn't play it in our LAN
You have to connect via steam with a valid license and there was no crack to fix it (I even don't know if now one got released)

Yeah, I tried Black Ops on my PC but the game lagged like I integrated molasses into my broken d-link and then tried to internet with it.

Yeah, this is the Slim model, one of the first.

And, the problem wasn't the lens. It was the drive itself; it wouldn't mount the disc properly, but infinitely whir and make me have to screwdriver the disc out.

Try to lubricate the mechanics
for example silicone spray should work great.
If that doesn't work try to do sth at the magnetic disc holder - maybe the drive is not strong enough to detach it from the BD.
maybe a piece of sticktape works

No, what the problem was was that one of the big white claw pieces at the top is connected to another piece that turns on the player when the disc is inserted, but it was jammed, so it didn't turn on :(

Or something like that, I'm not too good at explaining things.
