I decided to buy myself a new PC in September this year...

but I need some help with the decision...
I can't make decisions^^ I never know what i should choose...

Sooo....

Wow, what are you gonna need such high end PC for?

Anyway, I like the case of the first one most
Acer Predator looks kind of weird in my opinion.

If you're gonna get it just for gaming and not multitasking some serious/resource heavy applications (something like PS or AutoCAD), 8 GB would be just fine. Probably even 4 GB.

For a better boost I'd be more worried about having an SSD than the amount of RAM. Hard drive disk for storing documents and whatever, SSD for your OS and applications...


First 2 desktops seem pretty equal to me.
Green Hornet just has 2 TB HDD vs 1 TB of Silent-Gamer, it's really up to you wether you need 1 or 2 TBs.
Oh and Nvidia vs AMD. Not much difference I guess, both are high end. I'm no hardware expert though

First of all:
I would never buy a complete system because it's a waste of money - Just my opinion.

• You pay for a pre-installed Windows (which is a waste if you already have it)
• You pay for  the assembly of all parts

2. The cases:
I like the first one (Cooler Master) - similar features too my IN WIN case*, but it's a big tower (keep that in mind if you don't have too much space) and of course, it's very expensive.
The green Sharkoon looks great, but has no fan or sth in the side part.
Acer: I would generally screw that.

3. Processors: Although I have an AMD PhenomII X4 (quadcore) I recommend Intel Core I7 CPUs: faster than AMD and less power conumption. The price for these CPUs is also OK, but the mainboards are very expensive.
As conclusion I would say all newer CPUs with 3+ GHz and at least 4 cores are a good choice.

4. SSD I agree with Raj: Windows 7 is a giant system which is slowly like hell on a slow harddrive. I got a 60GB SSD from ADATA: that's pretty enough for Win7 and it goes pretty fast.
So I recommend you to have a normal harddrive (1 or 2 TB) where you install all the games and stuff, and a 60GB SSD where you only install Win7 and system tools.

5. Memory: 8GB of RAM should be enough. You will not run out of memory then. If you are also running a 32bit OS (I guess not) you could make a 4GB RAMDisk and place the swap file and/or temp directory there

6. Sound: Your decision if you really need premium sound. If yes, then you must have a good sound system - In sound quality I had good experiences with Creative Soundblaster cards, but unfortunately the official drivers are often bad (or buggy) and new card offer many useless features.

7. GFX: GTX 680 is pretty expensive, but I think it's the right choice for the next 2 years (maybe even 3).

8. Mainboard: to make it short: ASUS, but not ASROCK!

I got 8GB RAM now and run out of memory sometimes xD
for that i need at least 12...

at the screen for the first 2... Its the same screen^^
too to 1 and 2: i order them from the same shop

for the ssd: only available from 128GB up... would be like 180CHF + (if i replace the HDD)
all in all with both drives... in first case the price for the tower would be 2024CHF...+200CHF does 2224CHF

too I'm good at cleanin PC from inside, replace parts, repare parts BUT i'm way too dumb too put a whole pc together, too i don't have an OS CD here^^

Why 32bit OS?
Anyway, that's the reason I'd probably like 16+ GB of RAM. Make a RAMDisk and place UT2004 on it.

I'm not sure how it works though, so it's just a theory. Never had more than 4 GB on my PCs and hence not tried this.

I'm also not sure about bigger RAMDisks, but I have seen some expensive premium versions which advertise up to 16GB.
Anyway, some games do not take advantage from faster memory: I tried Crysis 2 on my SSD: no difference to ordinary harddrives.

Just noticed: looks like the first PC has no graphic card - just an onboard chip (correct me if I'm wrong).
Also I prefer NVIDIA - that's about my vote.

omfg, most ram i ever had was 4GB.  If you run out of ram, I think the program that complains has the problem not your machine.

Anyway, correct me if things have changed last year, but NVIDIA chips had some more features than ATi:
PhysX and CUDA (for rendering stuff which usually the CPU does, e.g. converting videos or raytracing).

Well... I'm a Polymechanic Technician in apprentice... so I could make some use of AutoCAD... It's the most powerful programm to define the machinery parts we make... also its easy to use^^
